Learning System for Students — 9th Grade Edition

The same learning system that helps leaders build capability in their teams also helps students build their own learning system.

Learning System for Students — 9th Grade Edition is the personal learning track designed for students. Nine lessons show how learning works, delivered through teachers in fifteen-minute sessions.

Students learn the Learning Loop* — Notice, Model, Test, Refine, Balance — and build a set of personal artifacts:

  • A Balance Card that names the conditions learning requires.
  • An Environment Map showing where distractions live.
  • Study, Practice, and Performance Checks students use before any session.
  • A Check Card that makes the full learning system portable.

By Lesson 9, every student owns the foundation for a complete personal learning system. The system is the same; the language is built for ninth graders.

If you're a superintendent or principal who has thought about helping students learn how to learn, pilot partnerships for the 2026–2027 school year are open. Teachers facilitate; students own the learning.

*The Learning Loop was developed in collaboration with Dr. Michael Harvey, Strategic Pedagogical Collaborator and New Zealand Pilot Partner.
